WINTER SPORTS GO ALL-OUT ITALIAN
12th – 16th March 2008
FIS Alpine Ski, Cross-Country, Freestyle Skiing
and Snowboard World Cup Finals

The Italian Alps are back in the limelight. After the 2005 Bormio World Championships and the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin, yet another fantastic season is about to start for winter sports in Italy.
From 12th to 16th March 2008, Valtellina will be hosting the “Big Finals” for the FIS Alpine Skiing, Cross-Country, Freestyle Skiing and Snowboard World Cup. The event highlights the tried-and-tested organisational skill that this area has so ably demonstrated over the years, thanks to all the institutions involved from the Lombardy Region and the Province of Sondrio to the local authorities.

The races will be held in three different locations:
• Alpine skiing: on the stunning “Stelvio” slope in Bormio (dubbed «winter sports’ answer to La Scala Theatre» by Gianfranco Kasper, FIS President);
• Cross-Country: in Santa Caterina Valfurva, the famous resort that gave us Deborah Compagnoni, the fi nest female Italian champion of all time;
• Freestyle Skiing and Snowboard: on the slopes of Valmalenco, which are famous their winter sports and numerous competitions.
A packed programme of side events, concerts and cultural attractions gives the area an enjoyable party atmosphere, and provides the perfect backdrop to one of the most eagerly awaited sporting events of the year.
And Valtellina is ready and waiting to rise to the challenge. The Organising Committee of the Grand Finals has set up a charity/humanitarian initiative that will involve the entire Province of Sondrio, where all the competitions will be held.
